Carriage Paid To
An international trade term where the price of the goods and freight is paid; it can be used with any mode of transport, especially multimodal transport. The seller delivers the goods, cleared for export, to the carrier or another person nominated by the seller at the named place. The seller must pay the costs of carriage necessary to bring the goods to the named destination. From the moment the goods have been handed over to the first carrier, all risks and costs other than freight pass to the buyer.
